Like any government the world over today, post-COVID -19 economic recovery remains the main focus of the Akwa Ibom Government and rightly so.

In preparation for the enormous tasks ahead, the governor had months ago put up a post-COVID-19 economic recovery team which had since submitted its report.

Therefore, to tackle the challenges head-on based on the report, there was a need to reinvigorate his cabinet and raise a crack-team rearing to go into action.

With the cabinet reshuffle, the Governor Emmanuel Administration is reenergized for enhanced service delivery.

‘We are poised, we are charged to deliver on all fronts. This is an era of creativity, ideas and imagination. You need to open your mind to see what you can do’, he rightly charged his new exco.

A result-oriented cabinet and nothing else is what the people of Akwa Ibom expect from the Governor Emmanuel administration. Of course, the administration cannot afford anything less, especially as it is almost moving fast towards the end of the second year in the second term of its tenure.

Before the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, the Emmanuel Administration was on course with its Completion Agenda programme. But there is no doubt the pandemic has slowed it down and the most essentials would have to be fast-tracked.

With the pandemic making mince-meat of the world’s economy, every government must restrategize to re-inflate their economy. Governor Emmanuel is aware of this and is, therefore, putting together a crack-team for this purpose.

Therefore, in the post-COVID-19 era, every sector must draw up plans to boost the economy. In other words, every sector must learn to compete to generate revenues into the treasury. No economy can henceforth afford to depend solely on oil revenues for survival.

Already, the Governor Emmanuel Administration has diversified the state’s economy away from being oil-dependent. Akwa Ibom’s economy is being expanded on all fronts in line with the completion agenda.

This is a time for creativity in rejuvenating the economy already battered by the coronavirus pandemic. Therefore the new top-notch cabinet must help Governor Emmanuel to take Akwa Ibom to the next level, especially in the implementation of the completion agenda which is the cardinal objective of his administration.
