A Day Of Joy And Celebration As Akwa Ibom First Lady-Designate Fetes Children At Maiden Golden Children Festival
On Christmas Day, Akwa Ibom First Lady-Designate, Lady Helen Eno Obareki, led some children in an inspiring book reading session. The young audience was captivated by ‘The Christmas Story,’ authored by the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
During the reading session with randomly selected children, Lady Obareki read the book that tells the story of the birth, life, and times of Jesus Christ and his love for humanity with accompanying illustrations, depicting the rich Nigerian culture.
She also engaged her co–reads in a question-and-answer session on hope and purpose before leading them to Santa’s Grotto, where they received gifts in the spirit of the Yuletide.
The event, titled the “Christmas Unplugged Golden Children’s Festival,” was organised by the First Lady Designate on 25 December 2024. It brought together children from the 31 local government areas in the state, children from the Divine Children’s Home, children living with disabilities, and children from different clusters at the Christmas Village for a day filled with joy and excitement.
The festival, which was moderated by Uncle Chicco, featured dance competitions where the children participated in different categories according to their ages, with the top three receiving cash prizes. They were also treated to gifts, food, and drinks.
The high point of the event was the cutting of the cake and the First Lady Designate personally handing out gifts to the participants, spreading joy and smiles on the children’s faces and ensuring that every child left the party arena with a treasured memory.
