Advocacy Group, Foundation Takes Medical Outreach To Akwa Ibom Community

In its avowed determination to support government’s efforts at eradicating Coronavirus pandemic from Akwa Ibom State, a renowned Advocacy Group, 1001+ Voices Initiative for People’s Empowerment in collaboration with Wodiong-Senie Foundation has facilitated a 2-day Community Health Improvement Programme (CHIP).

 

The first stage of the event which kick-started in Ikot Ukop, Okop Ndua Erong, Ibesikpo-Asutan Council Area of Akwa Ibom State saw health authorities administer dose of Astra Zeneca Coronavirus Vaccines to the residents of the village in an event described as a welcome development by the community leaders.

The two-day Programme which witnessed large turnout of people owing to earlier created awareness by the group on the need for the vaccination, took place on December 22 & 23, 2021 at the Country Home of the International Coordinator of 1001+ Voices Initiative, Obong Ide Owodiong-Idemeko.

 

Obong Ide Owodiong-Idemeko, who is also the Founder and Advisor of Wodiong Senie Foundation while addressing the community urged them to jettison all the conspiracy theories and speculations surrounding the vaccine and receive them to enhance their immune system against the virus.

He also urges them to be health conscious, exercise regularly, eat well and take adequate rest for their overall well being.

Also speaking, the Executive Director, Wodiong Senie Foundation, Mrs Ekaette Owodiong-Idemeko made a passionate appeal to all Ikot Ukop women on the need to comply with government efforts to get all adults to receive the coronavirus vaccine.

 

The Village Head of Ikot Ukop, Eteidung Billy Okpon who was the first to receive the vaccine commended Obong Owodiong-Idemeko and his wife, Ekaette for taking the initiative to get the vaccines across to the community.

 

The Village Head also recalled with pride the several medical missions and interventions that Wodiong Senie Foundation has continued to carry out in the community over the years.

 

In addition to the Vaccines, participants at the 2-day CHIP also went through a wellness education and blood pressure checks and receive medical advices.

 

1001+ Voices Initiative for Peoples Empowerment and Wodiong Senie Foundation have been in the forefront of intense advocacy for social justice and development and providing succor to indigent members of the society, individuals and organisations for societal upliftment.
