The Akwa Ibom State Government’s ARISE Compassionate Homes initiative has reached a widow in Nsit Atai Local Government Area, with the commissioning and handover of a newly built and fully furnished home to Madam Rebecca Sunday Udo at Ibedu Village on Saturday, September 19, 2026.
The intervention was part of activities marking the 39th anniversary of Akwa Ibom State and was commended by the Executive Chairman of Nsit Atai Local Government Area, Hon. Prince Anthony Nyong, as a demonstration of Governor Umo Eno’s commitment to improving the living conditions of vulnerable citizens.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prince Nyong expressed appreciation to Governor Eno for extending the initiative to Nsit Atai and providing a new home for Madam Udo.
The Chairman said the commissioning of various projects and interventions in Nsit Atai during the anniversary month had provided further evidence of the impact of the State Government’s development programmes in the local government.
He said the projects had also given the people of Nsit Atai reason to appreciate the governor’s administration for its interventions across different sectors.

Prince Nyong further announced a cash donation of ₦500,000 to Madam Udo to support her as she settles into her new home.
The home was formally commissioned on behalf of Governor Eno by the Chairman of the Spiritual Fathers Forum in Akwa Ibom State, Archbishop Prof. Ahaziah Umanah.
Speaking on behalf of the Governor, Archbishop Umanah said the intervention reflected the State Government’s commitment to providing decent shelter and support for vulnerable citizens across Akwa Ibom State.
The Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Princess Emem Ibanga, whose ministry supervised the construction of the home, said the initiative was designed to improve the living conditions of vulnerable citizens across the state. She described the intervention as “rain of blessing” for the beneficiary and announced cash support for Madam Udo.
Giving an overview of the programme, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Humanitarian Affairs, Prince Nsikanabasi Umoekpo, said Nsit Atai had so far benefited from 10 ARISE Compassionate Homes, with three additional homes approved for the local government.
He disclosed that the home presented to Madam Udo was built from scratch, fully furnished and equipped with solar power.
The Member representing Nsit Atai State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. Prince Aniefiok Attah, commended the intervention and pledged his support to Madam Udo.
Attah also announced plans to provide her with a television set and a DStv dish.
Residents of Ibedu Atai attended the ceremony and joined Madam Udo in celebrating the handover of the home.
Madam Udo expressed appreciation to Governor Eno, saying the new home had given her a renewed sense of security and dignity.
