A’Ibom First Lady-Designate Visits New Year Baby And Others With Gifts

A baby born on New Year’s Day to Mr. and Mrs. Nsikan Ekanem Umoh of Ukana Ikot Ntuen in Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State is the latest beneficiary of the benevolence of the First Lady-Designate of Akwa Ibom State, Lady Helen Eno Obareki.

Lady Obareki, who is the Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, paid an early visit to the maternity ward of General Hospital, Ikot Ekpene, in keeping with the tradition of the office, where she gave cash and gift packs to the baby boy, weighing 3.3 kg, who was delivered in the wee hours of New Year’s Day.

She extended the love to other newborn babies who were at the ward at the time of her visit and provided packages for the care of special care patients in the hospital. The children on admission in the children’s ward of the hospital who sang a special song for Lady Obareki and her team also received a package for their new year treat.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after the exercise, Lady Helen Obareki prayed that the star baby and others at the ward would bring blessings, joy, peace and prosperity to their individual families, while those who are seeking the fruit of the womb would have cause to celebrate before the end of 2025.

“My prayers are that the baby would bring joy, peace, blessings and prosperity to his family and every other baby I saw in the ward; it’s my prayer that as their births have been received with joy, so will their lives bring joy to their families.”

“I also pray for everyone who is seeking the fruit of the womb, that as this year has ushered in these new babies, God will also meet them at the point of their needs and bless them, so that in no distant future, we will also be celebrating them,” she noted.

The First Lady-Designate lauded the administration of Governor Umo Eno for implementing initiatives that are beneficial to citizens, such as the ARISE Health Insurance Scheme, noting that the Pet Project of the Governor’s wife, the Golden Initiative for All, GIFA, will continue to prioritise the welfare of multiple birth children, the less privileged and the family as a whole.

The Chief Medical Superintendent of General Hospital, Ikot Ekpene, Dr. Nene Andem, thanked Lady Helen Eno Obareki for visiting the New Year baby. She remarked that the newborn symbolises a fresh beginning and conveyed the joy of the hospital staff at her presence.

Similarly, the wife of the Chairman of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Council, Mrs. Affiong Nkom, expressed excitement at the arrival of the new year baby and anticipated that the new birth will usher in an abundance of good things in Ikot Ekpene. She commended Governor Umo Eno for investing in health, education, agriculture and human capacity development, also noting that the efforts of the government will yield positive results, pledging her commitment to prioritising the interests of the grassroots.

In appreciation, the proud father of the New Year baby, Mr. Nsikan Ekanem Umoh from Ukana Ikot Ntuen in Essien Udim Local Government Area, expressed his gratitude to the Almighty God for blessing them with a boy as their first child. He thanked the First Lady-Designate for her generosity and prayed for God’s continued blessings on her.

In attendance to welcome the First Lady-Designate were the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Dr. Ini Adiakpan, Vice Chairman of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Council, Obonganwan Abigail Akpan and other female stakeholders from the area.
