A’Ibom Govt Charges Private Security Personnel On Hard work

Akwa Ibom State Government has charged private security personnel under its employ to make use of knowledge gained through training to advance their working skills and enhance productivity in service delivery.

The State Head of Civil of Service, Elder Effiong Essien gave the charge while declaring open a 2-day training workshop for Watchmen and Security Guards in Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government, organized by the Department of Security Services, governor office, in collaboration with the Nigerian Institute of Industrial Security, NIIS, held in Uyo recently.

Represented by Mrs. Ekaette Ekanem, a Director in his office, the Head of Service said, since security is a major component in governance and a catalyst to development, the State government has placed premium on training and retraining of its personnel in order to bring them up to date with technological advancement for optimum productivity.

The Head of Service, Elder Essien said the State government was aware of the fact that without an effective security management, there can be no meaningful development, hence its huge investment in ensuring the protection of lives and property of its citizens, and thanked all stakeholders for supporting government policy in keeping the state safe at all times.

While commending the State governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel for what he described as people centric policies in governance, Elder Essien urged the security personnel to justify government huge investment in them by ensuring that they continue to carry out their duties with discipline, commitment and dedication without being found wanting.

Speaking earlier, the Director of Special Services Department, governor’s office, Mr. Aniefiok Thomas said the workshop was the State government noble way of putting back its resources for the development of its human capital base to enhance productivity for effective service delivery to the State.

Mr. Thomas added that the training workshop would expose the personnel to the basic rudiment of security management strategies that would continually place Akwa Ibom as the safest State in the country.

’’You will be exposed to and equipped with the necessary work ethics. It will build your capacity for result oriented services, grant you knowledge based insight in tackling the dynamic security challenges as it would arise,’’ Mr. Thomas maintained.

The facilitator, Mr. Wilson Esagbedo who spoke of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s development efforts in glowing terms thanked the present administration for giving a priority attention to human capital development and capacity and urged other States executives to emulate the strides.
