A’Ibom Gov’t Officials Visit Ex-deputy Governor, Nsima Ekere, On Father’s Exit

Assures Of Support, Cooperation

Officials of the Akwa Ibom State Government have paid a condolence visit to the family of a former Deputy Governor of the State, Obong Nsima Ekere, whose late father, Sir Gabriel Sampson Ekere, is to be buried on Saturday, September 11, 2021.

The delegation to the Ikot Oboroeyin – Edemeya, Ikot Abasi country home of the Ekeres on Thursday, led by the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), Ntufam Elijah Iyak, conveyed their message of condolence to the family, saying information of the patriarch’s exit was received with a great sense of loss.

They observed that although Sir Ekere lived to attain the age of 90, the society still yearned for him to have lived longer given the impact-driven and philanthropic life he lived.

Appealing to Nsima Ekere, his siblings and the entire family to be consoled, they urged them to continue upholding the positive ideals and virtues of the their late father.

They assured the family of support and cooperation for the success of the funeral.

Obong Nsima Ekere on his part was thankful to the team for identifying with him and his family, declaring that he feels honoured to have served the state in various capacities.

“This visit has lifted our spirits and it is well appreciated,” he added.

Speaking further, Nsima Ekere encouraged governments at all strata to emulate the team’s gesture of placing brotherhood above any perceived political sentiment or differences.

Reviewing the life and times of his father, he said he led a life of sacrifice to the common good of the society.

According to him, he was able to surmount life’s challenges through handwork, discipline and exhibition of godly virtues.

Other government officials in the team were: member representing Ikot Abasi/ Eastern Obolo State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uduak Odudoh; Commissioner for Rural Development, Mrs. Enobong Mbobo; Executive Chairman, Ikot Abasi LGA, Elder Joshua Affia; Executive Chairman, Onna LGA, Akparawa IniAbasi Ekanem; Special Assistant to the Governor on Projects, Prince Nsikan Umoekpo; and the Ikot Abasi LGA Chapter Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Etini Ayara.
