A’Ibom Gov’t Presents New Vehicles To Security Operatives
In its avowed determination to checkmate criminality and make Akwa Ibom State a safe haven for residents, the state government has presented 30 new vehicles equipped with communication gadgets to Service Commanders to aid security operations and re-energize the security apparatus in the state.
The state Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, made the presentation shortly after the state Executive Council Meeting, Thursday December 10, 2020 at Government House, Uyo.
Governor Emmanuel, who emphasized that security of life and property of every citizen, will continue to receive priority attention in his administration, pointed out that increased surveillance was the right step towards combating crimes especially as the yuletide approaches.
“Today, in order to re-energize our joint force operations we’ve injected additional 30 brand new vehicles, this goes with normal communication gadgets and other equipment. In this Christmas season we have to make sure that every single life is as important as the life of the governor.

“All the Service Commanders are here to take delivery of the 30 brand new vehicles, our target is to provide 100 brand new vehicles, so as more are coming in, we will augment the number so as to cover the 31 Local Government Areas and provide adequate coverage”, he announced.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Amiengheme Andy, who took delivery of the vehicles on behalf of the Service Chiefs, expressed appreciation to the state administration for acquiring the new vehicles to boost security operations and assured that the vehicles will be used to serve the purpose in which they are meant for.
Amiengheme used the occasion to debunk insinuations especially on social media that the state has been overtaken by criminal elements and assured residents in the state of adequate security during and after the yuletide.
“That assumption is very wrong. It’s a war in the social media, a lot of things are being said which are not true, like yesterday (Tuesday) they said Uyo was over taken by criminals, it’s not true not a single case was reported directly to the police.
“…the shooting heard was orchestrated on the media for everybody to think that Uyo is unsafe, Uyo is very safe and I crave the indulgence of Nigerians to please come and carry out business in Akwa Ibom State , Uyo is very safe”, he assured.
On hand to witness the presentation were Deputy Governor, Mr Moses Ekpo; Secretary to the State Government, Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem; Members of the State Executive Council and Heads of Security Formations across the state.
