A’Ibom ICSAN Commiserates With Gov. Emmanuel On Deaths Of Nkanga, Eduok, Ekpenyong, Ors
As messages of condolence continue to pour on Governor Udom Emmanuel on the loss of prominent sons of Akwa Ibom State and critical stakeholders in the completion agenda of his administration, the latest is coming from the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN), Akwa Ibom State chapter.
The state chairman of ICSAN, Elder Aniedi Amos in an interaction with newsmen, recently in Uyo, bemoaned the deaths of the two Akwa Ibom former top men in the Nigerian Air Force – Air Marshall Nsikak Eduok (Rtd), and former military governor of the state, Air Commodore Idongesit Nkanga (Rtd); immediate past commissioner for lands and water resources, Arc. Ime Ekpo and the state chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Udo Ekpenyong who all died recently, describing their demise as a great loss to the state, owing to the part they played in its development.
Amos noted the contributions of late Eduok to the country during and after his reign as the country’s 12th Chief of Air Staff and the legacies he left behind, describing the deceased as a great asset whose performance and antecedent in the Air Force earned the state its respect till date as the producer of one of the top ranking officers of the nation’s Air Force.

According to him, the late Eduok was a reservoir of knowledge who shared his knowledge and experiences with others in his profession, adding that he lived a life of service to the nation and humanity, with distinguished results in all endeavours.
The chairman of ICSAN who noted the zeal and commitment of the deceased in agriculture, having been engaged in the business over the years, with his farms spread all over the state and outside the state, said the late Air Marshall was a role model to some farmers in the state who would be missed greatly.
Amos noted the contributions of the late former military governor of the state, Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga to the country having taken charge of the presidential fleets in the country’s Air Force security sector and served as 3rd governor of the state from September 1990 – January 1992 during which he initiated projects that have stood the taste of time.
He specifically mentioned the Idongesit Nkanga Secretariat built by the deceased, saying, the edifice has remained the centre point for civil service operations in the state, adding that this singular project will keep the late Nkanga alive in the hearts of Akwa Ibom people, though he is gone.
The ICSAN chairman highlighted the enormous contributions of the deceased towards the success of the immediate past administration in the state and the present one, recalling that he had served as director- general of the campaign committee that produced Chief Godswill Akpabio for second term in office and two term DG of campaign that produced the present governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel during his first and second term.

According to him, in those instances, the late Nkanga had worked tirelessly to support these administrations to succeed through his wise counsels, saying, he will be greatly missed by the governor.
He pointed out that the history regarding successes recorded during the eras of uncommon transformation, transformation agenda and the present completion agenda will not be told to generations unborn without the late former governor’s name being mentioned, urging the governor and indeed, Akwa Ibom people to be consoled in the fact that he had lived a life worthy of emulation while alive.
Amos described the death of the state chairman of PDP, Mr Udo Ekpenyong as the most shocking, coming weeks after the state was trying to recover from the shock accompanying the deaths of the two former top men in the country’s Air force, Eduok and Nkanga, and the immediate past commissioner for lands and water resources, Arc. Ime Ekpo.
He maintained that the late Ekpenyong left at a period where the state and the party needed him most to pilot the affairs of PDP to an enviable height, recalling that the late Ekpenyong had been a member of the state executive council, having served as commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs where he also functioned creditably, describing him as one that had impacted on lives of many Akwa Ibom people in various ways, saying, indeed, he will be greatly missed by the governor, PDP and benefactors.
Amos sees the demise of the late immediate past commissioner for lands and water resources, Ekpo, as also shocking, coming few weeks after he was relieved of his responsibility as commissioner, recalling his achievements during his stay in the ministry, describing him as a team player in the completion agenda of governor Emmanuel’s administration in the state.
He prayed God to console the governor whom he said, would miss the wise counsels of these statesmen and stakeholders in the completion agenda of his administration, families of the deceased and the entire state on these great losses, wished their souls, eternal reposes.
