Women traders under the aegis of Market Women of Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria led by Evangelist Akwaima Enobong Akpan have celebrated the five years of Obong Bassey Albert (OBA), chairman, Senate Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream) and leader, Akwa Ibom Caucus in the National Assembly.
In a statement made available to the media in Uyo on Monday, the group noted: ”We feel very pleased to celebrate the impactful and robust representation of distinguished Senator Bassey Albert (OBA) for the past five solid years he has been in the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It has been one of concerted efforts to reach out to the downtrodden, women, elders and youths of the senatorial district and beyond”.
The statement added that ” Through the well managed business support to women traders in the state and all the scholarship programmes to indigent undergraduates from all parts of the state, Senator Albert has proven that he is a very different breed of a politician which history will never forget his goodwill”.
The statement as endorsed by the president of the group, Evang. Akwaima Akpan, also read in part ”We will continue to identify with this proud son of Ibibio nation, who is doing our dear state of Akwa Ibom very proud and has given a ready voice to the state with stellar performances and we pray God Almighty to grant him more wisdom to do more ”.
The women group also acknowledged the large-hearted disposition of the distinguished senator who has been very consistent in giving business support to the group.
Market Women of Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria is the umbrella body of women traders spread across the state.
