A’Ibom Newspapers Publishers Set To Hold ANPA Week 2025, Inaugurate Planning Committee

Newspaper publishers in Akwa Ibom State, under the banner of the Amalgamated Newspaper Publishers Association (ANPA), are set to have their first-ever week of activities.

To this end, the organisation has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to oversee the week-long event, tagged “ANPA Week 2025”.

The committee is chaired by Elder Patrick Albert, publisher of Crystal Express Newspaper and a former chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Akwa Ibom State Chapter, with Comrade Harrison Ndifreke, publisher of The Orange Newspaper, as secretary.

Other members are Comrade Amos Etuk, the immediate-past chairman of NUJ and SSA to the governor on media, who is the publisher of The Daily News Wire Newspaper; Comrade Nsibiet John, current NUJ chairman, Akwa Ibom Council, and publisher of The Ink Newspaper; Comrade Victor Ukpong, SA to the governor on local media/publisher of The Global NewsNow Newspaper; Comrade Daniel Edon, publisher of The Bubbles Newspaper and Umoenotimes Newspaper; and Comrade Iniobong Akpan, publisher of The Golden Bell.

Other members are Comrade Ekaette Okon-Joseph, special assistant to the governor on media and publisher of The Niger Delta Post; Akaninyene Essang, publisher of the Bell Newspaper; Henshaw Nyong, publisher of the Hills Newspaper; and Chief Ita Eyo, publisher of the Whisper Newspaper.

The inauguration of the committee took place recently at CEEDAPEG Hotels and Suites, Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo.

In his short speech, the president of ANPA/publisher of The Eagle Eyes Newspaper, Pastor Osuini-Abasi Alfred, charged all members of the committee to live up to expectations and ensure that the ANPA Week 2025 is very successful and impactful.

According to the president, the committee is saddled with the responsibility of organising a series of activities that will bring together newspaper publishers, editors, writers and industry stakeholders to share ideas, network, and discuss pressing issues affecting the industry.

The ANPA Week 2025 will feature a range of activities, including a Thanksgiving service to mark the beginning of the event, a road walk and novelty football match, a visit to an orphanage, inspection visits to government projects and a symposium/awards and dinner.
