More accolades have continued to trail the recently commissioned Ikot Oku Ikono Flyover built by Governor Udom Emmanuel -led administration.
The latest is coming from the stake of the entire traditional rulers in Akwa Ibom State.
The traditional rulers, in a Press Release signed by the Oku Ibom Ibibio, His Eminence, Ntenyin (Dr.) Solomon Daniel Etuk, JP, congratulated the Udom Emmanuel’s administration for initiating and completing the Ikot Oku Ikono Flyover which was commissioned on Friday, July 17, 2021, by His Excellency, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, former President of Nigeria.
Commending Governor Udom Emmanuel, the royal fathers noted that the Ikot Oku Ikono Flyover which connects Uyo -Abak-Itu- Etinan – Nsit Ibom and other adjoining local government areas, is a delightsome infrastructure and a fulfilled dream for the people of Akwa Ibom State, who had yearned for such a flyover facility to ease the transportation challenges like traffic congestion and accidents that had characterized the hitherto Ikot Oku Ikono Junction.

The Paramount rulers expressed appreciation to the Governor for completing the Flyover within the stipulated time frame, despite the prevailing economic situation in the country.
The Release read in part: “We are indeed very pleased that you have ensured that the Ikot Oku Ikono Flyover project, which has a 16-metre dual carriage, awarded to Julius Berger in 2019, is completed within the time frame, despite the challenges of lockdown and economic depression which came up due to the outbreak of COVID -19 pandemic across the world in 2020 and is yet to fully abate.
“We have seen a good number of projects cutting across roads, hospitals, schools, 21 storey building, Dakkada Secretariat, Infectious Disease and Control Centre, amongst others, that you have executed since coming into office in 2015.
“It is also on record that your administration has built for the traditional institution, a monumental state-of-the-art Council of Chiefs Chambers with a unique residence for the Chairman of Council, located at Wellington Bassey Way) End, Uyo, the State Capital.

“Through your clear leadership vision, you have established Ibom Air which is now flying various parts of Nigeria with regional and continental reach in focus. Through Ibom Air services, air transportation in and out of Akwa Ibom State and other operational routes, have been made easy.”
The monarchs pointed out that the feats attained by Governor Udom Emmanuel so far, are testament to the fact that he has Akwa Ibom State at heart always; and a clear demonstration that Governor Emmanuel has the capacity and commitment to fulfill the Completion Agenda of his administration.
The royal fathers used the medium to appeal to the Udom Emmanuel -led administration to facilitate the provision of a reliable Yacht and Ferry services along Akwa Ibom waterways to boost tourism and enable easy commercial transportation from Akwa Ibom State to neigbouring States and other countries.
They also called on all sons and daughters of Akwa Ibom State including residents, to appreciate the worthy endeavours of Governor Udom Emmanuel led administration and to fully support and align with his administration irrespective of political party affiliation, throughout the remaining period of the current administration.
The traditional rulers sued for unity, love and support for a peaceful transition process so that Akwa Ibom State will continue to experience peace, tranquility and progress.
