The Village Head of Akai Ubium in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, His Highness Eteidung Esema Esema II, Ata Okongo I of Akai Ubium, has congratulated Prof. Philip Afaha on his appointment as the pioneer Vice Chancellor of Akwa Ibom State University of Education, Afaha Nsit.
In a congratulatory message on behalf of the Village Council, Elders, Women, Youths and the entire people of Akai Ubium, the monarch described the appointment by Governor Umo Bassey Eno as well-deserved and a testament to Afaha’s hard work, academic excellence and distinguished service.
Prof. Afaha, a former Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of Abuja, hails from Akai Ubium.
“You have made our village proud. We are confident that you will bring your wealth of experience to build a world-class University of Education in our land,” the Village Head said.
He prayed for God’s wisdom, strength and abundant grace for the new Vice Chancellor to succeed in his assignment.

The State Governor, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, PhD, announced the appointment of Prof. Afaha during the 2026 teachers’ day celebtration.
The Akwa Ibom State University of Education, Afaha Nsit, formerly College of Education, was upgraded recently by the State Government to drive teacher education and human capital development.
