The Akwa Ibom State Hospitals Management Board has presented a capital budget estimate of ₦500,000,000 (five hundred million naira) only for the implementation of key activities and programs in 2025.
Presenting the capital estimates before the 2025 capital estimates bilateral committee, sitting in the Ministry of Economic Development, the Permanent Secretary of the board, Dr. Abraham Inyangudoh, said the policy thrust of the 2025 capital estimates is the management of all 42 secondary health facilities in the state to ensure the delivery of quality healthcare to the people.
He intimated that, as a critical sector, the board is dedicated to effective healthcare delivery, patient satisfaction and revenue generation. He maintained that these key achievements in 2024 align with His Excellency’s vision for a healthier state and pledged to continue championing this vision to ensure sustained progress and improvement in the years to come.
While appealing that funds be allocated to align with current economic realities, the Permanent Secretary highlighted key activities enlisted for execution in the 2025 fiscal year, including:
– Increase in revenue generation
– Renovation of more secondary health facilities in the state
– Training and re-training of staff
– Robust public health services for the entire civil service for effective productivity.
The Committee is chaired by the Hon. Commissioner of Economic Development, Mr. Emem Bob; membership includes the Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Linus Nkan; Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Dr. Ini Adiakpan; Chairman of the Internal Revenue Service, Mr. Okon Okon; State Accountant General, Pastor Uwem Andrew-Essien; and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Development, Barr. Christopher Udoh; while the State Director of Economic Planning, Mr. Otobong Sambo, serves as the Committee’s Secretary.

Other members of the Committee include: the State Director of Statistics, Mr. Peter Akpan; the Director International Corporation, Dr. (Mrs.) Uduak Ekong; and the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, Mrs. Mercy Ibup.
