Akwa Akuku Annang Installs Senator Albert As Obong Idorenyin Annang

The Akwa Akuku Annang and Paramount Ruler of Essien Udim Local Government of Akwa Ibom State, His Royal Majesty, Obong Cosmos O. Akpan has honoured Senator Bassey Albert Akpan (OBA), chairman, Senate Committee on Petroleum Resources Upstream, with the chieftaincy title of Obong Idorenyin Annang.

 

HRM Obong Akpan, KSJI, who is also the Clan Head of Ekpenyong Atai Clan bestowed the honour on Obong Bassey Albert, who is the senator representing Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District, at his formal coronation as the Akwa Akuku Annang – the supreme traditional ruler of Annang people, held at the Council Grounds in Essien Udim Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State on Friday, December 31, 2021.

Obong Akpan said at the occasion, which also marked his 98th birthday and 59 years of Royal Services, that Senator Albert’s chieftaincy award was in recognition and appreciation of his statesmanship, exceptional leadership qualities, selfless services to the Annang community and humanity in general.

Other distinguished honorees at the historical event were the State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, who received an award for “Governance and Leadership”, with his wife, Dr (Mrs) Martha Udom Emmanuel as well as the State Deputy Governor, Mr Moses Ekpo, MFR.

 

The other recipients were the Speaker, Federal House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila; Hon. Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Distinguished Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio; Senator representing Akwa Ibom South, Senator Akon Eyakenyi; Member representing Ikot Ekpene Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Nsikak Ekong and the Member, representing Ikot Ekpene/Obot Akara State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Idongesit Ntekpere.

The royal father also honoured Obong (Sir) Micheal Akpan Affangideh, OON, JP; Sir Emem Akpabio, Obong (Engr.) Samuel Inyang, OON and Engr. Oliver Ebong for “Business and Entrepreneurship”.
