Akwa Ibom Police Command Disburses ₦39.97 Million To Families Of 51 Deceased Officers
The Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, fsi, has presented welfare cheques totalling ₦39,967,409.28 (thirty-nine million, nine hundred and sixty-seven thousand, four hundred and nine naira, twenty-eight kobo) to families of 51 deceased officers.
The beneficiaries comprised families and next-of-kin of deceased police officers who served the Nigeria Police Force and the nation with dedication, courage and distinction.
News of the presentation was contained in a press release issued by DSP Timfon John, the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) on September 17, 2026.

The presentation, made on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, reflects the Nigeria Police Force’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of families whose loved ones paid the ultimate price or passed away in active service.
Addressing the beneficiaries, the Commissioner of Police acknowledged that no financial assistance could replace the lives of the departed officers.

He noted, however, that the gesture represents the Force’s enduring appreciation of their sacrifices and its responsibility to support the families they left behind.

“While no amount of money can replace the lives of our departed colleagues, this intervention demonstrates that the Nigeria Police Force has not forgotten their service, sacrifice or the families they left behind,” CP Azare stated.
The Commissioner conveyed the deepest sympathies of the Inspector-General of Police and the entire Akwa Ibom State Police Command to the bereaved families. He assured them of the Force’s continued support, solidarity and commitment to their welfare.
He urged the beneficiaries to use the funds prudently for the welfare, education and development of their families and dependants.
CP Azare reaffirmed that the Akwa Ibom State Police Command remains committed to strengthening the welfare of serving and retired officers, as well as supporting the families of deceased personnel.
The Commissioner formally presented the cheques on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, reiterating the Nigeria Police Force’s resolve to honour the memory of its fallen heroes and uphold its duty of care to their loved ones.
The Beneficiaries includes Edidiong Enoh Umoh, Edidiong Umem Okon, Praise Ochanya Paul, David Umem Okon, Emem Enoh Umoh, Eno Obong Monday I, Eno Obong Monday I, Nwobodo Nwanganga, Uwakiafoe Itoro Udo, Favour Miracle I, Emem Udak Okon, Godspower Udak Okon, Emmanuel Ndiereka A. Rose Ndifreke Archbong, Stephen Meshak Ugo amongst others.
Aniedi Joseph Etuk who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries appreciates the Inspector General of Police and the Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command for taking the welfare of the fallen heroes paramount. He assured the CP that they will make judicious use of the money received.
The Command prays that Almighty God will continue to comfort and strengthen the bereaved families and grant the souls of the departed officers eternal rest.
