ANPA WEEK 2025: APOSTLE GEORGE URGES NEWSPAPER PUBLISHERS TO MAINTAIN PROFESSIONALISM, SUPPORT GOV. ENO

The Area Superintendent of The Apostolic Church, 69 Oron Road, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Apostle (Prof.) Ime George has charged newspaper publishers in the state to uphold professionalism, integrity, and truthfulness in their publications.

Prof. George also tasked the media community in the State to support Governor Umo Eno for his lofty programmes as highlighted in the Arise Agenda.

Preaching on the topic “The Power of Thanksgiving” during the Thanksgiving Service marking the commencement of the Amalgamated Newspaper Publishers Association (ANPA) Week 2025, Apostle George emphasised that gratitude is a spiritual principle that attracts divine favour, promotion, and progress.

He noted that thanksgiving goes beyond mere appreciation, it is a powerful key that unlocks greater blessings from God. He therefore urged members of the association to cultivate a lifestyle of gratitude in both their professional and personal lives.

While commending the association for its contributions to nation-building, the cleric reminded publishers that professionalism and Godly conduct remain vital to sustaining public trust and upholding the ethics of the profession.

The Thanksgiving Service, held on Sunday, November 9, 2025, brought together members of ANPA, media practitioners, and guests who gathered to thank God for His faithfulness and to rededicate their commitment to the pursuit of truth and excellence in newspaper publishing.

Leading members for the Thanksgiving service, the President General of ANPA, Pastor Osuini-Abasi Alfred, appreciated the church leadership for granting the association the platform to express gratitude to God.

He noted that the association was thankful for its sustainability and blessings over the years and assured that members would continue to operate within established professional laws and ethics.

The president announced the association’s support for the church building project and a special offering to mark the Thanksgiving service.

In his goodwill message, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Akwa Ibom State Council, and Secretary, BoT of ANPA, Comrade Nsibiet John, congratulated ANPA on the commencement of its week.

Comrade Nsibiet, who said that the Thanksgiving service coincided with his 100 days in office since the election on August 2, pledged the Union’s continuous support, acknowledging that publishers are the employers of journalists and therefore deserving of partnership and solidarity.

The highlight of the event was a special prayer session for the association led by Apostle (Prof.) Ime George.
