ANPA Week 2025: Newspaper Publishers To Offer Free Medical Outreach, Hold Symposium, Awards, Ors

Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State, is set to come alive as the Amalgamated Newspaper Publishers Association, Akwa Ibom State (ANPA), rolls out activities for its 1st ANPA Week 2025, scheduled to take place from Sunday, November 9, to Thursday, November 13, 2025.
With the theme, “The Relevance of Newspaper Publishers in State Development: The Case of Akwa Ibom State under the ARISE Agenda”, and a sub-theme, “Newspaper Publishers as Catalysts for Democracy and Good Governance”, the week-long event will feature a blend of spiritual, humanitarian, fitness, and intellectual engagements designed to underscore the vital role of the media in state development.
The activities will kick off on Sunday, November 9, with a Thanksgiving Service at The Apostolic Church, 69 Oron Road, Uyo, under the theme “Oh that men would praise the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works…” (Psalm 107:31).
This will be followed on Monday, November 10, by a Free Medical Outreach and Health Check-up, as well as Visits to Orphanages, reaffirming the commitment of ANPA to community welfare and public health.
On Tuesday, November 11, members, family, friends, stakeholders and supporters of ANPA will take to the streets for a Road Walk, aimed at promoting fitness and public awareness, and later engage in a Novelty Football Match to strengthen camaraderie among members and stakeholders.

The following day, Wednesday, November 12, will feature inspection visits to Government Projects in the state, followed by an interactive session titled “An Evening with Newspaper Distributors and Vendors.”
The grand finale on Thursday, November 13, will feature a Symposium, Awards, and Luncheon at CEEDAPEG Hotels, Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo, by 11 a.m.. It will bring together government officials, media executives, and stakeholders for a robust exchange on the future of newspaper publishing in Akwa Ibom under the ARISE Agenda.
In a joint statement signed by Pst. Osuini-Abasi Alfred (President General, ANPA), Comr. Ubong Etetor (General Secretary), Eld. Patrick Albert (Chairman, CPC, ANPA Week 2025), Comr. Harrison Ndifreke (Secretary, CPC), Eld. Ernest Akpan (Chairman, BoT), Comr. Amos Etuk (BoT Member), and Comr. Victor Ukpong (BoT Member), the organisers assured that this maiden edition of ANPA Week would set a new standard for professional media engagement, public enlightenment, and partnership with government for sustainable development.
They called on members of the public to identify with ANPA by participating actively in the activities, noting that the 2025 ANPA Week will not only celebrate the impact of newspaper publishing but also reinforce its place as a driving force in democracy and good governance.
