The St. Peter’s Parish, Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, Catholic Diocese of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State has extolled Distinguished Senator Bassey Albert Akpan (OBA) for his sterling leadership, effective representation and unbridled services to God.
As a mark of honour, the Catholic Church celebrated a thanksgiving mass for Senator Albert, who is the chairman, Senate Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream) and Senator representing Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District, at St. Peter’s Parish, Ibiono Ibom LGA, on Sunday, December 19, 2021.
The Parish Priest of St. Peter’s Parish, Very Rev. Fr. Anthony Ekong said the Mass of thanksgiving for Senator Albert was in acknowledgement of his good works for St. Peter’s Parish, the Church and humanity in general.
“It is on this note that we are gathered to thank God for what he has done through Senator Bassey Albert and present him to God for more exploits,” the priest stated.
In his speech, Senator Albert, who is also the Leader of the Akwa Ibom State Caucus in the National Assembly, Abuja, thanked the St. Peter’s Parish for the honour of celebrating a thanksgiving mass and prayers to God for his continued strength and successes.

Senator OBA said the occasion has emboldened him to do more for the church and humanity in general and urged the church to constantly pray for the state and the nation against the backdrop of security concerns as well as socio-economic and political challenges.
The thanksgiving mass had in attendance, the chairman of Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Ekopimo Polycarp and wife; the Leader, Ibiono Ibom Legislative Council, Hon. Udeme Sunday; former chairman of Ibiono Ibom LGA, Rt. Hon Ekomabasi Akpan; Political Adviser to Senator Bassey Albert and Chairman, Bassey Albert Liaison Office, Uyo, Obong Daniel Udoh; a former member of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Barr Kennedy Ekong; a chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Jerry Okpo, and the Chairman, PDP of Ibiono Ibom LGA Chapter, Mr Emmanuel Akpan.
Others were Mr Onofiok Onofiok; Mr Ubong Uwah; Arc Macaulay Udoka; past and serving councillors and many others too numerous to mention.
The officiating Priests included: Very Rev. Fr. Cletus Ubon Etim, Rev. Fr. Daniel Ukpong and Rev. Fr. Malachy Akpan.
