Council Election: Eket Chairmanship Candidate Receives Royal Blessings
A chairmanship hopeful for the forthcoming local government election in Akwa Ibom State, Chief Iniobong Idem, has received the anointing from Idung Iniang Council of Chiefs to succeed in his aspiration to contest as chairman of Eket Local Government.
Mr Idem received the royal blessings Wednesday when he consulted the people of Ofiriyo village, Ward III Central, Eket Local Government Area.
Raining blessings on Idem, the monarchs prayed the Almighty God to bless and guide him in his political endeavours.
“Our son, we bless you as your father. God Almighty is with you. He will lead and guide you to succeed as the next executive chairman of Eket Local Government Council”, the monarchs prayed.
Earlier in his presentation of the chairmanship aspirant to the people, Mr Usoro Usoro pointed out that Mr Idem is a valuable asset that has the charisma to effectively serve the people of Eket and lead them to an enviable height.
On his part, Mr Idem who intimated the people on his intention to contest as chairman of Eket Local Council promised to be effective and proactive towards consolidating on the existing noble legacies to make Eket greater and better.
In their responses, the people took turns to pay glowing tributes to Mr Idem, saying that he has the capacity, the principles and charisma to lead them, and therefore pledged their unalloyed support to him. They warned against any fetish allegiance.
“We will continue to pray for you to succeed in this project. Let’s not encourage fetish politics by swearing to an oath (mbiam) because this is a serious business that requires strong moral character and dedication, of which Idem Iniobong possesses. On this note, we are assuring you of our unalloyed support knowing you will emerge victoriously”, the people said.
In the same vein, Mr Idem consulted the people of Development 2 in Okon Eket to intimate them of his ambition. The people pledged their support to him to ensure that he emerges as chairman of Eket Local Government Council in the forthcoming local government election.
Mr Idem had earlier consulted the political leader of Eket Local Government, Rt. Hon. Nduese Essien, to intimate him of his intention to contest as chairman in the local government election.
