Council of Chiefs Proclaims Paramount Ruler of Urue Offong/Oruko Dead

The Paramount ruler of Urue Offong/Oruko Local Government Area, His Royal Majesty Offong (Engr.) Effiong Robin Amasi has been proclaimed dead by the Akwa Ibom State Council of Chiefs.
The proclamation was made by the Chairman Akwa Ibom State Council of Chiefs and Oku Ibom Ibibio, His Eminence, Ntenyin (Dr.) Solomon Daniel Etuk at the Traditional Rulers’ Council chambers, Wellington Bassey Way, Uyo.
Describing his deceased royal colleague as a man of priceless virtue and simplicity, Ntenyin Etuk, noted that Offong Amasi would be painfully missed by all the members of the traditional rulers’ council.
“We are gathered here today in honour of one of us who had been faithful, diligent, articulate and dynamic, whose rare attributes endeared him to the entire people of Urue Offong/Oruko Local Government Area and the government of Akwa Ibom state to be so honored as the paramount ruler of Urue Offong/Oruko.”
“Today, I, His Eminence, Nteyin (Dr.) Solomon Daniel Etuk, Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Council of Chiefs on behalf of myself and members hereby proclaim and it is hereby proclaimed that this great man, selfless and revered leader, HRM Offong (Engr.) Effiong Robin Amasi has joined his ancestors.”
A minute silence was then observed in respect of the dearly departed paramount ruler and for the repose of his soul.

The Oku Ibom Ibibio appealed to all traditional rulers, friends and well-wishers to co-operate with the bereaved family through this time to ensure smooth funeral preparations.
The late HRM Offong (Engr.) Effiong Robin Amasi was born some decades ago in Elei village, completed his secondary education at Boy’s High School Oron in 1984; attended the Marine Engineering School Burutu from 1948 – 1952 and Yaba Technical College, 1952 – 1953 before proceeding to Perkins school of Engineering, Peters Borough, England, 1960 – 1961.
In her address, Chairman Urue Offong/Oruko Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. (Mrs.) Precious Selong commented on the late paramount ruler’s passionate dedication to the good of the people of Urue Offong/Oruko.
“I have been working very closely with my paramount ruler Offong (Engr.) Effiong Robin Amasi. He’s a very active, very outspoken parmount ruler, a well-behaved and well-mannered man and father.”
Similarly, the chairman, Obio Ifong Isong Òrò OIIO, HH Offong Effiong Unanaowo, praised the contributions of the Late Offong Robin Amasi to the Urue Offong/Oruko local government council and Oro nation as a whole. He prayed God to bless his soul.
In attendance at the proclamation were: Members of the Akwa Ibom State Council of Chiefs and the secretary of the council; Mr Emmanuel Umontuen; Hon. Asuquo Archibong, member representing Urue Offong/Oruko State Constituency, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly; the Chief Mourner and the bereaved family and stakeholders of Urue Offong/Oruko Local Government Area.
