CP Azare Charges Journalists On Balanced Reportage

The Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, fsi, has charged journalists to embrace balanced reportage in the discharge of their duties.
This call was made when the leadership of the newly elected Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Akwa Ibom State Council, paid him a courtesy visit at the State Command Headquarters, Uyo, on Tuesday, September 2, 2025
Led by its Chairman, Comrade Nsibiet John, the Council commended the Commissioner of Police for his outstanding leadership in policing the state and for ensuring the safety of lives and property.
He explained that the visit was aimed at renewing ties with the Police Force in the state, adding that such engagements would be periodic.
Comrade John further applauded the CP for his media-friendly disposition and pledged the Union’s continuous cooperation and support in promoting peace and security.
In his response, CP Azare congratulated the new NUJ chairman and his executives on their victory at the polls and assured them of the Command’s unwavering support, just as it had extended to the previous administration.
According to DSP Timfon John, the Police Public Relations Officer, Akwa Ibom State Police Command, the police commissioner reaffirmed that the doors of the Police Command will always remain open to the NUJ.

The Police boss emphasized the importance of balanced reporting, urging journalists to always seek clarifications from the Command before publishing crime-related stories.
According to him, this approach would not only be fair but would also enhance professionalism in journalism.
