Dakkada Are 2019 Team Of The Year

Dakkada FC are arguably, the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) team of the year 2019 in the ongoing league.

The Uyo based team which got promoted last season have already taken the elite division by storm in the matches so far played.

As at week nine, the debutants, second on the league table, have beaten the likes of Rangers of Enugu and recording an impressive away record.

The Dakkada lads who, before now, were known as Akwa Starlets were virtually on cloud seven before Akwa United brought them back to earth in a derby in Uyo.
Having stayed on the second spot for a couple of weeks, Dakkada have dropped to the fifth but are back on course.
Coached by Benedict Ugwu, Dakkada have surprised everyone with their performance, especially their away record.

They opened the league with a one-all draw away to fellow debutants Delta Force, same score line away to Heartland of Owerri, defeated Ifeanyi Uba 1-0 at home, beat Enugu Rangers 0-2 away, defeated Warri Wolves by a lone goal at home, lost 1-2 at home to Kano pillars, drew one-all away to Abia Warriors, defeated Enyima 2-1 at home, drew goalless away to Kastina, lost 0-1 to Akwa United in a derby and played one-all away to Sunshine Stars.

With this great performance, Dakkada are placed fifth on the table with 17 points from 11 matches. Dakkada (an Ibibio word which literarily means arise) are truly rising to greatness with their play and therefore deserve to be named our team of 2019.
