Maize Association of Nigeria (MAAN), Delta State chapter, has elected new executive officers to pilot its affairs for the next four years.
In a free, credible and transparent election conducted by the Chairman, Electoral Transition Committee, Mr. George Ajabor and witnessed by observers in Asaba, Comrade Chukwutem Ossai, was elected the Chairman of the Association.
The position of the Deputy Chairman was clinched by Dr. Andrews Elueni, the Vice Chairmanship position for Delta North went to Mr. Martin Izukwe, while Mr. Sunday Badidi became the Vice Chairman, Delta Central.
Mr. Odion Anthony Echewa settled for the position of Vice Chairman, Delta South, Mr. Douglas Idundun was elected as the Youth Leader, Mrs. LizzyAkhere was returned as the Treasurer, Mrs. Elizabeth Awawor was elected as the Woman Leader while Mrs. Angela Obianke smiled home as the Organizing Secretary.
In his remarks, Mr. George Ajabor, noted that his committee was committed to conducting a free, credible and transparent election, adding that it was high time “we did things in the right way and follow due process.”
Ajabor, who is also the Chairman, Oil Palm Growers Association of Nigeria, Delta State Chapter, congratulated the newly elected officers and urged them to work for the benefit of all members of the association.
In their goodwill messages, the President, Maize Association of Nigeria, Bello Abubakar Annor represented by the Zonal Coordinator (MAAN), Amadi Godwin, the Chairman, All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Delta State Chapter, Chief Richard Asenime, who inaugurated the new EXCO, the immediate past Chairman of MAAN, Delta State Chapter, Chief Samuel Agbigbi, and some observers including Mr. Yakegba Tari from Bayelsa State, Mr. Chris Awunor (Delta) and Eze-Owen zogo F9 ideha (Delta), equally congratulated the new executive officers, charging them to be focused, dedicated, selfless and carry all members along in the scheme of things.
They described MAAN as the best commodity association in the country, saying that agriculture is the in thing now as both the Federal and State Governments were seriously interested and committed to diversifying the economy to agriculture and other non-oil sector.
In his acceptance speech, the Chairman, Comrade Chukwutem Ossai, commended members of the association for finding him worthy to lead them, promising to carry everybody along, work for the good of all and move the association to greater heights, even as he solicited the cooperation and support of all members to achieve set goals.
