Eastern Obolo Legislative Council holds Public Hearing On Four Bills Today

Obolo Hall, Eastern Obolo Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State comes alive today, Thursday, September 17, 2020 as key stakeholders assemble for a public hearing being conducted by the 6th Eastern Obolo Legislative council.
The session which begins at 10:00am is to be chaired by Sir Adasi Obulom, chairman, Akwa Ibom State Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy.
Eminent stakeholders billed to attend are Chief Francis Uduyok, member representing Ikot Abasi/Mkpat Enin/Eastern Obolo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives; Mr Uduak Odudoh, member representing Ikot Abasi/Eastern Obolo State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly (AKHA) and Mrs Victoria Tallick, executive chairman, Eastern Obolo LGA alongside her executive council members.

Also expected at the public hearing are HRM Ubong Harry J. Etetor, paramount ruler of Eastern Obolo LGA; HH, Chief (Capt) Isaiah F. Okonko, clan head of Iko town, all village heads, opinion leaders, clergies, youths, men and women groups and the entire Eastern Obolo people.
In a statement issued by Elder Joseph Oromene, leader of the Legislature, Eastern Obolo LGA, the legislative council will hold the public hearing to deliberate on four bills put forward to invigorate the development of the area.
Listed are “A bill for a by-law to make provision for the registration/ licensing of boat and canoe and other matters connected thereto” and “A bill for a by-law to make provision for the tenements rate of the values for all classes of tenements in Eastern Obolo and for other matters connected thereto.”

Others are “A bill for a by-law to make provision for street naming/ management in Eastern Obolo LGA and for other matters connected thereto” and “A bill for a by-law to make provision for the establishment of markets in Eastern Obolo and for other matters connected thereto.”
Elder Oromene urged stakeholders to attend the public hearing so as to make inputs on the four listed bills, which will, when passed and signed into law, meet the collective yearnings of people and the local government.
He also appreciated Gov Udom Emmanuel, political stakeholders and faithful of People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) in Eastern Obolo LGA for the recent successful PDP primary election that lead to the emergence of the house leader, Elder Abraham Mathias Odion as the PDP chairmanship candidate for Eastern Obolo.
