Ember Months: Federal Fire Service Seeks AKSG Partnership On Fire Prevention
As part of its preparations ahead of incidences of fire outbreak during ember months, the Federal Fire Service has sought the partnership of Akwa Ibom government to intensify fire prevention in the state.
The state deputy controller of the Federal Fire Service Zone E (covering Akwa Ibom, Cross River and the Rivers States), Philip Odu, appealed a courtesy call on the Akwa Ibom State government in Uyo on Tuesday.
Odu used the occasion to appreciate the state government for the donation of a large parcel of land for office accommodation and appealed for increased support in areas of mobility and furnishing.
Responding on behalf of the state government, secretary to the state government (SSG), Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem, appreciated the partnership proposed by the service and expressed the government’s readiness to partner them.

Ekuwem, who advised the agency to commence full utilization of the assistance previously given, expressed the seriousness that Governor Udom Emmanuel attaches to fire service.
He reminded the service that the decision of the state government to attach fire service to the Ministry of Works was a further demonstration of the importance attached to the service.
The event was attended by some officers of the Federal Fire Service, the commissioner for works and fire service and his information and strategy counterpart, Professor Eno Ibanga and Comrade Ini Ememobong respectively.
