Emem Ibanga Honours Major General Akpan with Council’s Secretariat
Council’s Access Road Now Maj Gen Edet Akpan Crescent

Nsit Atai Local Government Area has named its council’s secretariat after the Late Major General Edet Akpan (rtd), OFR a one-time director general of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
Henceforth, the council’s secretariat bears Major General Edet Akpan Secretariat, Odot, Nsit Atai LGA.
Also, the council has named the access road to its secretariat after the fallen hero, who hailed from Iwok Obio Aduang, Nsit Atai. It now bears Major General Edet Akpan Crescent.
The Executive Chairman of the council, Lady Emem Ibanga announced this at the funeral service for the committal of the remains of departed sage held at Qua Iboe Church Primary School Grounds, Iwok 1, Nsit Atai Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State on Saturday, July 25, 2020.

Lady Ibanga described the decision of the council as a mark of honour to “a man who was a father and motivator to all in Nsit Atai; someone who showed us the way and lighted our path.”
The council chairman, in eulogising the late Major General, said Nsit Atai Local Government Area has lost a rare gem, a shining light and a benefactor.
“We have taken this decision as our token of appreciation to honour and immortalise a man who meant so well for us all. He was interested in the development of the local government and in all of us. We will always remember him for his good deeds and service to humanity. General Akpan was an epitome of legacies. He was our father,” Lady Ibanga restated.
