Families of Deceased Police Officers Get N22.9 Million in Akwa Ibom

It was all joy for families and next of kin of 63 deceased police officers in Akwa Ibom State on Thursday as they received a total sum of twenty-two million, ninety-four thousand, nine hundred and fourteen naira, eighty kobo (N22,914.80) under the Group Life Assurance and IGP Family Welfare schemes.

The Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, CP Baba Mohammad Azare FSI, who presented cheques to the beneficiaries, sympathised with them over the loss of their loved ones during the course of their service to the nation.

The commissioner assured them that the Force under the leadership of IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, remains committed to the welfare of police officers, both deceased, retired and serving. He said the force will continue to ensure adequate support for the families of the fallen heroes who paid the ultimate price, and will improve the living conditions of the families they left behind.

The CP encouraged the beneficiaries to make good use of the funds by channelling them into legitimate businesses and the upkeep of their households.

In the press release issued on the payment, DSP Timfon John, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Akwa Ibom State Command, stated that the beneficiaries, while expressing their heartfelt gratitude to the Inspector General of Police for the kind gesture, said the support will go a long way to lessen their burden, promising to make judicious use of the funds.
