Farewell Service: Senator Bassey Albert Honours Apostolic Cleric
It was pomp and circumstance at the farewell/ thanksgiving service in honour of a renowned cleric and wife, Apostle (Dr.)/Deaconess A. J. Ayara (JP) at The Apostolic Church Nigeria, Ete, Ikot Abasi Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State on Sunday, February 28, 2021.
In keeping with his deep reverence for God and the labourers in the vineyard, the Distinguished Senator Bassey Albert Akpan, senator representing Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District personally attended the epochal event, admist thunderous ovation from congregants.
The outstanding service profile of Apostle Ayara attracted créme de la créme to the ancient city Ikot Abasi.
Apostle Ayara had put in 20 years of stewardship in the Lord’s Vineyard before his retirement. He is credited with the expansion of the mission in Ikot Abasi including the establishment of the Apostolic Church, Ikot Abasi Field.
As a Principal of the Apostolic Church Secondary School, Ikot Obio Okoi, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, the insightful cleric was also involved in mentoring and training of current and upcoming generations of clergies.
The officiating minister at Farewell/Thanksgiving service, Apostle E. I. Etuk, extolled the virtues of Apostle Ayara throughout his service in the Lord’s vineyard, describing him as a great teacher, preacher and mentor.
Senator Bassey Albert Akpan (OBA), who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream), acknowledged the good qualities of Apostle Ayara, stating that such character of selflessness and commitment to service that he exemplified, helped in winning souls to God, being the basic function of a cleric.
Senator Albert commended the Apostolic Church for honouring the retired steward and called on him to be available to volunteer his wise counsel and prayers for the church and the faithful.
In his thanksgiving, Apostle Ayara offered praises to the Almighty God for a successful service in the Lord’s vineyard. He also appreciated his wife, family and the Church for their unquantifiable love, support and prayers.
