First Female NIMN President Emerges, Pledges To Consolidate, Improve On Legacies Of Past Leaders

The National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN) has elected its first female president since 2003 when the institute officially came into existence through the Act of Parliament No. 25 of 2003.

The new president, Mrs Bolajoko Bayo-Ajayi takes over from Mr Idorenyen Enang, whose two-term tenure of four years lapsed at the just concluded Marketing Conference/ Annual General Meeting held in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State over the weekend.

Mrs Bayo-Ajayi, who polled over 95 per cent of total affirmation votes cast at the AGM as the sole candidate for the office of the National President, expressed deep-seated gratitude to the council members and members of the institute for the confidence reposed in voting her as the new president.

She assured them of her determination to consolidate on the achievements of the past leaders of NIMN with a greater zeal to take the institute to the next level.

The new president promised to introduce innovation that will make the institute outstanding and also the most sought-after professional association, stressing that the next two years will be filled with programmes that will add value to the lives of its members.

Earlier, before handing over to the new president, the immediate past President of the Institute, Mr Idorenyen Enang said the institute under his leadership forged strategic partnerships with Lagos Business School, the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK and the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana, to enhance the learning and development drive.

According to him, “The Institute’s examination curriculum approved by the council has been adopted and is currently being infused in our system”.

“The NIMN Act No. 25 of 2003 was presented to the 10th National Assembly and has passed the first reading and is currently awaiting the second reading.

“This is a major step towards facilitating our drive for compliance”.

He added that notwithstanding the challenges posed by funding, his administration did its best to leave behind numerous milestones urging members to remain committed to building a strong institution while aiming increasingly revenue-sustainable culture.

“The governing council implores all members to rise to the occasion to support this rebuilding process so we can make our dear institute a prude among its peers around the world” he intoned.
