Former Akwa Ibom NUJ VC’s Spouse for burial November 6

The mortal remains of a veteran banker, Mr Peter Friday Umoetuk, shall on November 6, 2021, be committed to mother earth at his Okat hometown in ONNA Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

He was married to a broadcast journalist and a former Vice Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Florence Umoetuk.

The interment at the family compound at Okat is scheduled for 2:00pm, after a funeral service at the Lutheran Primary School Field, Okat, to be conducted by the Redeemed Christian Church of God, the family announced.

The deceased, who lived from May 21, 1960 to April 6, 2021, leaves behind the wife, and three children: Philomena, Enobong and Blessed.

Initially employed as a teacher under the now defunct Cross River State Teaching Service Commission, the late Umoetuk later had a stint with the Estate Department of the Cross River State Housing Cooperation, before being employed as a Senior Clerk at the Cooperative Development Bank (CDB) in 1987 where he served until the bank’s merger with the First City Monument Bank (FCMB).

His career with FCMB spanned decades. He attained different capacities and served in several states of the federation before a voluntary disengagement from the bank.

It is further gleaned that he started his formal education journey at Holy Trinity Primary School, Calabar, before transition to St. Patrick’s College, Ikot Ansa, Calabar, where he bagged his West African School Certificate in 1979.

“He furthered his studies and was a recipient of the National Diploma and again, the Higher National Diploma in Estate Management at the Calabar Polytechnic, Calabar,” his profile further reads.

He remained a devout Christian till his demise.
