Golf Tournament In Honour Of Sir G. S. Ekere Tees-off In Akwa Ibom
…As Over 100 Golfers Compete For 15 Trophies
Captain of the prestigious IBB Golf Club, Abuja, Senator Emmanuel Anosike alongside his counterpart in Akwa Ibom State, Barr. Usenobong Akpabio have performed the ceremonial tee-off of a golf tournament in honour of late Sir Gabriel Sampson Ekere, an elder statesman and revered educationist who passed on at the age of 90.
The tournament holding at the golf course of the Ibom Icon Hotel and Golf Resort, formerly Le Meridien Hotel and Golf Resort, has over 100 competitors across the country competing for 15 trophies.

Also partaking in the ceremonial tee-off were Prof. Aniekan Ekere, eldest son of the deceased, who is renowned Professor of Medicine, and his sibling, Obong Nsima Ekere, a former Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State and former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
Speaking after the tee-off, Senator Anosike, who noted that the duo of Prof Aniekan Ekere and Obong Nsima Ekere are golf enthusiasts, described the tournament as a befitting honour for their father.
