Gov Emmanuel Enjoins Christians To Reflect On The Lessons Of The Crucifixion

Governor Udom Emmanuel has urged Christians to reflect positively on the teachings and wonders of the Cross of Jesus as the bedrock of Christianity.

The governor made this known while attending a 5-day global crusade organized by Deeper Life Bible Church, tagged “The Wonders of the Cross”, on Thursday at Ibom Hall Grounds, Uyo.

Mr Emmanuel, who welcomed the General Superintendent of Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor W. F. Kumuyi to the state, called on believers not to relent in prayers as God will not fail to answer the prayers of Christians.

The Chief Executive of the state, pointed out that, peace enjoyed over the years in the State is as a result of prayers, maintaining that the message of the Crucifixion of Jesus which symbolises the redemption and power of His resurrection will revive Akwa Ibom and heal the people.

Speaking in line with the theme of the crusade ‘Wonders of the Cross’ the governor urged believers to be expectant of God’s blessings, exercising their faith in the message of the cross which represents the potent power of God to heal both physically and spiritually.

“Today, on behalf of the government and people of Akwa Ibom State, I welcome Christians to the state, the more we pray, the more fertile the land gets, the more we pray, the more the land gets peaceful.

“I hope we all know that peace does not come by accident wherever you see peace, people are praying for peace and if you don’t pray for peace, it does not come.

“We welcome where genuine prayers are rendered for the peace, prosperity and progress of the land”.

‘’I hope we all know that the bedrock of Christianity is of the Cross, when we speak, teach and pray about the wonders of the Cross, we are actually telling God the power of His resurrection, the wonders of what he did on the cross the finished work on the cross.

“He said by His stripes ye are healed, so we are talking about healing, healing the people, healing the land, healing different aspects that needs healing,” Mr Emmanuel stated.

In his homily, the General Superintendent of Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor W. F. Kumuyi, who culled his text from John 3:14 admonished Christians to believe in the power of God as demonstrated by the wonders of the Cross, adding that whosoever believes in Him will be saved.

“Tonight as we begin talking about Christ, a Saviour, a Lord, a Healer, a Redeemer, a Deliver, the all in all for us

“As a people who will not perish as they put their faith and confidence only in Christ as their Saviour the power of God will be manifested in you”, he said.

High point of the crusade were moments of ministrations of songs, prayers and testimonies.
