Gov Eno Approves 13th-Month Bonus, Welfare Support For Pensioners, Rallies Support For Tinubu, Akpabio

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, has approved a 13th-month pension bonus for all pensioners in the state and a N10,000 one-time welfare support for November 2026.
Eno announced the package on Friday, October 30, 2026, at Ibom Hall Ground, Uyo, during an award and endorsement ceremony organised by the State Council of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP).
The pensioners had presented the Governor with a Merit Award and endorsed him for a second term in 2027.
“This is indeed humbling to me. It shows that you are truly technocrats with a laudable sense of organization. You may be retired but not tired. I celebrate and appreciate you greatly. I am now directing that N10,000 be added to the November 2026 pension payment of every pensioner in support of your welfare,” Eno said.
He urged pensioners to enroll in the State’s health insurance scheme, which he said is free for persons aged 65 and above.

The Governor said his administration has so far paid over N100 billion out of the N111 billion gratuity backlog inherited since 2012, and assured that the balance will be cleared before the end of his first term.
He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for increased federal allocations to states which made the payments possible.
He called on the pensioners to vote for President Tinubu in 2027 for continuity of funds and for Senate President Godswill Akpabio, GCON, in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District.
National President of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Comrade Mazi Godwin Ikechukwu Abumisi, praised Gov Eno for his compassion and developmental strides and urged members to support his reelection.
Earlier, State Chairman, Pastor Sylvester Nkodo, said Eno’s policies have lifted pensioners from poverty to dignity.
Following a motion moved by Comrade James Inim and seconded by Dr. Mrs. Uduak Udoaka, pensioners unanimously endorsed President Tinubu, Senate President Akpabio, Governor Eno and other APC candidates for reelection in 2027.
The event was held under heavy rain as pensioners stood to show appreciation to the Governor.
