Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has reiterated his commitment to fostering unity and peace by building a “United State of Akwa Ibom”.

Speaking at the Easter Unity Concert held at the International Christian Worship Centre, the Governor called on all citizens to be intentional about sustaining the peace and unity in the State.

He specifically appreciated the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) for coming together to present a song at the concert.

“For us in Akwa Ibom, we will continue to run under the banner of a ‘United States of Akwa Ibom’. We will continue to work together; we will continue to march together forward as the Lord leads us on. That’s why I specially thank IPAC for always demonstrating that the focus is about our state, and we all have a stake in the project Akwa Ibom,” he said.

Speaking on the Easter celebration, Governor Eno said the resurrection is the restoration of hope and called on Nigerians to keep hope alive as a greater future beckons.

He noted that though things may not be exactly as expected currently, “I see light at the end of the tunnel; I see goodness coming out of Nigeria. It is well with Nigeria, and it is well with our leaders. We must keep hope alive because the resurrection is the restoration of hope. We must maintain our hope that everything will turn out well.

“Let’s not join the naysayers to say that there is nothing good about us; there is something good about Nigeria,” he added.

He said the Unity Concert brings together every ministry, department, and government agency to praise God, whom he said has been the source of every success recorded by his administration.

He appreciated the organising committee, different choir groups, and everyone for their contributions to making the event successful.

Earlier in his exhortation, the State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Bishop Christian Nyong, preaching on the theme “Talitha cumi”, said that for every believer, the resurrection brings hope of life and to every aspect of life that was dead.

The concert featured sessions of praises, choir ministrations, and a Bible reading by the coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, Lady Helen Eno Obareki.

In attendance were the Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Udeme Otong, the State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Ekaete Obot, Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah; members of the National Assembly, members of the State House of Assembly, members of the State Executive Council, religious leaders, and renowned gospel artistes.
