Gov. Eno Rounds Off Town Square Meeting In Etinan Fed Constituency, Empowers 844 Constituents With Over N361m Grant

It was empowerment galore as the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, rounded off his town square meeting in all 10 federal constituencies across the state with a visit to Etinan Federal Constituency on Saturday, August 23, 2025.
The governor empowered over 844 people with upwards of N361 million in grants in trade, agriculture, equipment, and cars, as well as in micro, small, and medium-scale enterprises (MSMEs).
Disbursing the grants to beneficiaries at the Nsit Ubium Local Government Council arena, Governor Eno appreciated the constituents for the massive reception given to him. He appreciated them for their support of his administration.
“Your massive turnout here today is indeed organic, spontaneous, and electrifying. And I am most grateful.”
“Today, in Etinan Federal Constituency, we are giving out the sum of N361.450 million to 844 persons in the form of grants to farmers, traders, equipment support, MSMEs, and car and minibus beneficiaries,” he stated.
The Governor said the selection process was made possible through the ARISE Youth Employment portal and that the beneficiaries were qualified citizens of the Federal Constituency.
“All the selections for these grants were done on our portal. So, endeavour to make use of the portal to be carried along.”

Speaking further, he said, “As a young man or woman, if you don’t know how to use a computer, go and learn because the world has changed. And, we all must align with this global change to function efficiently and effectively in our day-to-day endeavours.”
He received the Needs Document from stakeholders in the federal constituency, assuring that critical items in the document will be incorporated into the 2026 budget.
Governor Eno disclosed the plans of his administration to establish youth-friendly centres in all 31 local government areas of the state and asked council chairmen to donate land for the project’s take-off.
“To our youths, we are about to start building youth-friendly centres in all the Local Government Areas of the State. And this is in line with global best practices.
“I therefore take this opportunity to call on all the local government chairmen to give us 1,000 square metres of land within their local government areas to commence this initiative,” he added.
Governor Eno further disclosed that N800 million worth of business grants has been set aside to soon commence entrepreneurial empowerment of non-indigent entrepreneurs resident in the state.
On the entrepreneurial programme of his administration, Governor Eno revealed that over N10 billion has been proposed in the 2026 budget as grants to empower the people in trades, farming and MSMEs.
The Governor, therefore, urged the people to patronise and apply for low-interest loans in the Bank of Industry located in the State, as the State Government has deposited N2 billion for the people of the State to access.
Setting the tone for the event, Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, acknowledged Etinan Federal Constituency as the home of great leaders who have left their imprints on the sands of time.
He said the governor’s visit was in fulfilment of his campaign promise to return to appreciate, thank and reward the people of the constituency for their support during the election.
He thanked the Governor for his inclusive government, describing him as an empathic, passionate, performing and compassionate leader who prioritises the interests and welfare of the people.
He thanked the people of Etinan Federal Constituency for their loyalty and support to the Governor, which, according to him, has energised his productivity and leadership excellence.
Earlier, in his welcome remarks, the Chairman of Nsit Ubium Local Government Council, Hon. Alfred Charles, described the Governor as the pride and true son of Nsit Ubium, whose leadership prowess has raised Akwa Ibom to greater heights.
He thanked the Governor for his approach to development, which has distinguished him for honour as the best Governor in Nigeria, a gesture that has made the Akwa Ibom people proud.
The council boss pledged to support the governor beyond 2027 to enable him to complete the good projects he has initiated for the people of the state.
Leading in the presentation of the NEEDS Document of the Federal Constituency to the Governor, Senator Effiong Bob commended Governor Eno for representing his Constituency well at the Hill-Top Mansion through his laudable developmental strides across the State.
In his goodwill message, the Member representing Etinan Federal Constituency, Hon. Paul Ekpo, expressed appreciation to Governor Eno for the love he has shown to the people of Akwa Ibom State and for not betraying the confidence that the people bestowed on him.
He thanked the Governor for the numerous projects recorded so far by the people of the Constituency and promised to stand by him through his two tenures in office.
Hon. Ekpo thanked the people for the great display of solidarity, loyalty and love they have shown to the Governor and sponsored a motion to adopt Pastor Umo Eno as the governorship candidate for the 2027 general election, which was ably moved and seconded by Hon. Otobong Bob and Hon. Aniefiok Dennis Akpan, respectively.
The event witnessed the full presence of members of the State Executive Council, members of the political class, captains of industry, the clergy, traditional rulers, and the general public.
