Gov. Umo Eno Canvasses Support, Participation As Niger Delta Sports Festival Kick-starts In A’ Ibom
...Commends NDDC For Sport Facilities Upgrade In The State

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has implored citizens and residents in the state to be fully involved in the Niger Delta Sports Festival scheduled to kickstart Wednesday, April 2, 2025, in Uyo.
Governor Eno, who gave the directive during the April edition of the Government House monthly covenant service, appreciated the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for a considerable upgrade of the state’s sport facilities to host the sport fiesta optimally.
“The NDDC Sports Festival will begin tomorrow, April 2. It will be a one-week event. So, I urge all of us as sports lovers to support any of the sports that you love by your attendance. Let’s go out there to show our support for our people and the event. We are privileged to be the first state to host this festival.
“We want to thank the NDDC for the first time that they have blessed us with this sports festival. They have repaired a whole lot of our sports facilities in the state, and I have directed the Honourable Commissioner for Sports that these repaired facilities must not go down again. So, he has a job to maintain all of those facilities.”
The Governor, therefore, declared that “once every year, we must have the Akwa Ibom State Sports Festival. We want to make our state a tourism state. So, as we are developing our tourism master plan, I want to believe that there will be no quarter that Akwa Ibom State will not draw Nigeria’s attention in the area of tourism, whether in sports or whatever areas of tourism.”

The State Chief Executive announced Oron Federal Constituency as the next in line to host the ongoing town hall meeting on Saturday, April 5, 2025.
“On Saturday, the 5th of this month, we will be heading to Oron Federal Constituency for the Oron Town Hall meeting. That will be the second town hall meeting, and it’s getting better by the day. After that, we will then go somewhere else,” he said.
Pastor Eno explained that the meeting is held to enable his administration to feel the pulse of governance and identify areas of need to enable it to deliver such needs to the people.
Delivering his homily on the theme “The Grace Cannot Be In Vain”, Catholic Bishop of Uyo Diocese, Most Rev. John Ebebe Ayah, who took his text from the Bible book of 1st Corinthians 15:9-10, noted that Akwa Ibom State, by God’s grace, is blessed with rich natural resources.
He thanked God for the exceptional leader He has given to the State in the person of Pastor Umo Eno, who, he noted, has piloted the affairs of the State with the grace of God for the good of the people.
In his remark, the Chairman of the State’s Christian Advisory Council and Catholic Archbishop of Calabar, Most Rev. Joseph Ekuwem, commended Governor Eno for his humility and leadership disposition, stressing that he was proud to be an Akwa Ibomite.
