Gov Umo Eno Expresses Delight over New Akwa Ibom

... As A'Ibomites Across Party Lines Gather For Monthly Covenant Service

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has expressed delight over the state of affairs across the state, especially with the peaceful and harmonious working relationship across party lines.

The Governor registered his pleasure at the April edition of the Government House Monthly Covenant Service and Easter Hymns held at the Banquet Hall, Uyo, on Monday.

He noted that his administrative philosophy of inclusiveness and unity in diversity was yielding the desired fruit as Akwa Ibomites in different political parties could come together under one roof to share fellowship.

Governor Eno, who believes that political parties are but platforms to aspire for political offices, expressed delight at the array of worshippers and composition of choirs with membership defying political party, ethnic and denominational affiliations, describing the outlook as representative of the new Akwa Ibom spirit.

He expressed the appreciation of the state government to all who, despite having celebrated Easter in their various ways, came out to join the special Easter Service.

In his words, “We love what we saw today, and I particularly want to thank God for all our brothers across party lines meeting under one roof to worship God and give him glory. I think we may be the only state experiencing that, and we thank God for it.

“Outside the shores of this land, some people have been Democrats, and some have been Republicans all their lives, but they meet and they’re happy with themselves, so I’m happy that we have broken these walls. That does not change what you believe or who we are, but as a people, we must use all of those to further the development of our state,” he added.

The April 2024 edition of the Monthly Covenant Service, coinciding with the year’s Easter Service of Hymns, featured renditions by various social clusters in the state to commemorate the season’s essence.

Beginning with a symphonic rendition of Harvey Mason’s “Song of Triumph” by the Government House Divine Voices and other musical pieces from various interdenominational choral groups, various sectors, including members of the National Assembly, both serving and past, state legislators, judges, state executive council members, the College of Permanent Secretaries, and the College of Personal Aides to Governor, also constituted themselves into choirs to grace the event.

Also featured was a combination choir of personnel from the various security agencies, led by the State Commissioner of Police, CP Ayilara Adedamola, Chairmen of Boards and Commissions, Local Government Transition Committee Chairmen, Christian Association of Nigeria Choir, and the Peoples Democratic Party Choir, among others.

Delivering an exhortation on the theme “Wonders of the Cross,” with scripture reference from Matthew 28:6-7, Bishop Dr. Nick Iheanacho of Arise Fellowship Int’l Church expounded on three wonders of the cross to include victory over powers that kept man away from God, the new covenant mediation of Jesus between God and man, and the resurrection power of Christ.

He, therefore, called on Christians to embrace the message of the cross for their individual and general good.
