Governor Eno Flags Off Construction Of Chairman’s Official Residence In Obot Akara

Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening grassroots governance as he officially flagged off the construction of the Chairman’s official residence in Obot Akara Local Government Area on Wednesday, 14th January, 2026.
Performing the groundbreaking ceremony at the council secretariat, Nto Edino, Governor Eno who was represented by the Commissioner for Works & Fire Service, Prof. Eno Ibanga stated that the project aligns with the state government’s agenda of providing a conducive working and living environment for local government administrators to deliver quality service to the people.
Emphasized that functional infrastructure at the grassroots remains central to sustainable development, peace, and effective leadership across the state, the Governor noted that an official residence for council chairmen will enhance institutional stability, reduce the recurrent cost of accommodation, and promote dignity in public office.
He assured the people of Obot Akara that his administration will continue to initiate and complete projects that directly impact communities and improve livelihoods and commended the people of Obot Akara for their support for government policies, urging continued cooperation with contractors and government agencies to ensure timely completion of ongoing projects.
Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Chairman of Obot Akara Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Simon Dominic Akpan, along with former council leaders and stakeholders, thanked the Governor for his people-centered leadership and developmental strides across the state.

He highlighted ongoing projects and renewed investments in the area as proof of purposeful governance and pledged to mobilize widespread support to ensure continuity of development initiatives beyond 2027.
Goodwill messages were received from notable including Hon. Monday Utuongo and Elder Ekanem Anan who thanked the Governor for the project and declared support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Governor Umo Eno ahead of the 2027 general elections, citing their development-driven leadership and visible impact across Akwa Ibom State.
On his part, Sir Monday Ebong Uko, Immediate-past Commissioner for Youths and Sports, expressed gratitude to God, the Governor, and the people of Obot Akara. He thanked the Governor for his wisdom and commitment to the development of the area and urged the youths to cooperate with contractors and refrain from actions that could disrupt the project.
He also advised the Council Chairman to provide the necessary support to ensure the successful completion of the project.
The event attracted government officials, political leaders, traditional rulers, youths, and community stakeholders, who described the project as another demonstration of Governor Umo Eno’s resolve to bring development closer to the people.
