Hon Jerry Otu Celebrates Daughter’s Birthday At Orphanage Home In Ikot Ekpene

In a heart-warming display of love and compassion, Hon. Jerry Otu, the member representing Ikot Ekpene/Obot Akara State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, marked his daughter’s birthday by celebrating with children at the Government Children’s Home, an orphanage, located at No. 30B, Chubb Road in Ikot Ekpene LGA.
Speaking during the celebration, the indefatigable lawmaker expressed immense joy and gratitude for the life of his daughter, Miss Juanita Keti Anson Otu, as she celebrated another year, adding that the event was not only a birthday celebration but also a gesture of outreach to the less privileged.
“We came here to celebrate my daughter’s special day so you know that you are not alone,” Hon. Otu said. “As the representative of Ikot Ekpene/Obot Akara, I want you to know that I am here for everyone, regardless of your condition.”
Flanked by his wife, Hon. Otu reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of the orphanage and promised to continue supporting the home to enhance the well-being of the children.
The lawmaker emphasized the importance of community, compassion, and shared responsibility in building a more inclusive society.
Also speaking at the event, the wife of the lawmaker, Mrs Idong Otu expressed joy and shared a touching story about her daughter’s birth. “Juanita was born on Children’s Day, and I gave birth to her after visiting an orphanage Home”.

“It’s a day full of meaning for us, and we want to keep bringing hope to these children,” she said, promising to continue visiting and supporting the orphanage.
In his exhortation, Very Reverend Inemesit Akpan Essien, the Presbyter, Methodist Church, Ikot Abia idem, Ikot Ewang, Ikot Ekpene LGA thanked the Otu family for choosing to celebrate at the orphanage, adding that the gesture had inspired a new message for his next sermon.
Miss Juanita Keti Anson Otu, the celebrant, expressed her gratitude and joy, thanking her parents for celebrating her birthday in such a special and meaningful way.
In her vote of thanks, Mrs. Ime Christopher Akpan, the Matron of the Government Orphanage Home, appreciated the lawmaker and his family for choosing their home as the venue for the celebration. She prayed that God would replenish the family with more blessings.
The highlight of the event included the cutting of the birthday cake, singing, dancing, presentation of food items and groceries and heartfelt prayers for the celebrant by the children of the orphanage.
