In line with the policy thrust of the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, the Chairman of the Transition Committee of Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area, Hon. (Mrs.) Akon Michael Asuquo has flagged off the food security programme in Ibesikpo Asutan.
The policy, an initiative of the Akwa Ibom State Government, is targeted at providing food to the most vulnerable people across local government areas in the state.
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony held at the Council Secretariat, Nung Udoe, Tuesday, April 2, 2024, the chairman expressed profound gratitude to the Governor for thinking about the most vulnerable in his administration.
She thanked the governor for the establishment of the Akwa Ibom State Bulk Purchasing Agency, stressing that from the numerous programmes so far implemented by the governor, his administration is truly grassroots-centred.

Her words: “I’m here today in respect, honour and strict adherence to the directive of my boss, our leader, the golden gift of Akwa Ibom State, to do exactly as instructed to flag off the food security programme in our respective council areas.”
“The Governor aims to see that Akwa Ibom State people are well fed, most particularly the poorest of the poor in our communities.”
“We have to officially do the flag-off here at the council; I mean to declare it open, and we’ll also do it in two wards after now. Thereafter, it’ll be handled ward by ward, which will be strictly supervised by all the personal assistants to the governor in each of the wards across the local government areas.
“Vouchers that’ll be taken to the redemption centre will be issued to all of you whose names have been captured in the social register by your respective ward’s PAs. You see, for the government to give you food, it means you’re a government child, and your prayers all the time should be, “God bless our governor and his wife,” she stated.
After now, the programme will be carried out in each of the wards through the use of the social register under the supervision of the governor’s PAs.
