Ibom Patriots Condole Gov Emmanuel over Loss of Father

...As Governor Emmanuel expresses shock over Massive Show of Love

 

 

A Pan Sociopolitical organization in the State, Ibom Patriots has paid a condolence visit to the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Udom Emmanuel over the demise of his father, Elder Gabriel Nkanang.

Speaking during the visit on Tuesday, the leader of the delegation who is also the Chancellor of Ibom Patriots, Obong Bassey Inuaeyen commiserated with the Akwa Ibom State first family urging them to be consoled because of the quality of life their departed father lived.

The Chancellor noted that when the news came to them, as humans they were saddened at heart, hence they saw it necessary to join other Akwa Ibom people and Nigerians to commiserate with the Governor and his family.

Inuaeyen added “We know how painful it is when you lose someone no matter the age. We say please take heart and also call on God to give you the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss.

“Be consoled that he lived a good life on earth that is why he left behind children like you which through you, Akwa Ibom State has seen life of impact in a degree that has never been before. Indeed, he has left indelible mark on the sands of times. But now, just as Shakespeare said that the world is a stage were actors come, act and disappear, he has finished his role hence, exit the stage.”

The Chancellor called on the family to emulate the life of the departed nonagenarian by holding firm his ideals while on earth.

In response, Governor Udom Emmanuel who is the Grand Patron of the organization said his family was humbled by the visit describing it as superlative expression of love shown his family.

He noted that since his father’s death in December 2019, he has received a lot of
sympathizers across the country and party lines.

Governor Emmanuel added “This is one event that has had a lot of impact in history. History is on those of us who are alive. I feel so loved. I never knew I was this loved by Akwa Ibom people and Nigerians.

“From North, East, West and all parts of the country, even those who were antagonistic to me are so good to me during this time saying that someone like this can be a bridge builder in the country. I am on a call and not ambition.”

“At the funeral, no one will say he is a Moslem or not. It would be a good crusade ground. I thank Ibom Patriots for their show of love and support.

While paying tribute to his late father, Governor Emmanuel, said the Late Elder Nkanang was a man God honoured in return of his service to Him. The Governor expressed optimism that his father is in heaven because of his good works.

He recalled fond memories of his father as a lover of his family, disciplinarian, reputable teacher and missionary who aided the propagation of the gospel in Kogi, Nassarawa and Niger states, then known as the Ighala Conference of Qua Iboe Church and expressed appreciation to God for giving him the grace to live up to ninety years.

The Governor attributed the accomplishments of the progenies of the Nkanang family to his father’s moral values, character and discipline.

The Governor said, “I feel proud to have been a son of this kind of man; through his discipline, forthrightness and the grace of God, we are where we are today”.

Meanwhile, the first son of the deceased, Mr. Gabriel Nkanang, has expressed appreciation over the kind gesture of Ibom Patriots towards their family and prayed for God’s blessings on them.

Mr. Nkanang, invites Akwa Ibom people to join the family on the 14th and 15th of February 2020, for the night of songs and tributes as well as the funeral of the Late Elder Gabriel Emmanuel Nkanang.
