I’ll Remain Committed To Good Governance – Gov Eno

...As He Celebrates Rev Ossom At 85

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has felicitated Rev. Emmanuel Ossom on the cleric’s 85th birthday, describing him as one with a passion for pursuing godly values.

Governor Eno, who was a special guest at a Thanksgiving Service held in honour of Rev. Ossom at the United Evangelical Church, founded as Qua Iboe Church, Itiam Etoi, Uyo, said the cleric’s support for his government has been notably impressive.

He said the service theme, “Divine Protection”, culled from the Bible book of Psalms 124:1 and 8, was apt and appreciated God for the grace of longevity and good health on Rev Ossom.

The Governor noted that not only has the life in his years counted, but the years in his life have equally counted, adding, “…your voice is still powerful. At 85, you’re still very coordinated. We are very proud of you. We thank God for your life and the impact you have made.

“We thank God for those that your life has brought to the kingdom of God. We thank God for those that you have laid your hands upon, countless of us, and I am privileged to be one of them.”

The Governor recalled his baptism, at the age of 10 by the Rev. Ossom during his missionary tour at Ikeja, Lagos State, and appreciated God for the grace of sitting side-by-side with the man who baptised him and wished the respected cleric a splendid celebration.

He commended Rev. Ossom’s quality counsel, and support before and during his governorship election as well as for his government.

Gov Eno assured the people of the State that wherever the journey of life leads him, the Christ in him will continue to be the hope of glory, adding that he would vigorously pursue the ARISE Agenda to deliver on his mandate.

“I can assure you from this exalted pulpit, that I will never turn left or right from God. And that, I will always pursue the ARISE Agenda which does not hinge on any party’s toga.

“The ARISE Agenda has become our primary focus, and we’ll drive it to its logical conclusion. That is my promise to you and all men of goodwill,” he added.

Earlier, Rev. Ossom appreciated the Governor for attending the event, and for his deep sense of brotherhood, visionary leadership, humility, and people-oriented governance in the State.

He noted that if it had not been for the Lord, he wouldn’t have lived to celebrate his 85th Birthday in good health, adding that he was still willing and anxious to do the work of God.

High points of the celebration were the cutting of a birthday cake and a special song presentation by Rev. Ossom and his wife.
