Immediate Past Councillors In Ikot Ekpene Extol Council Chairman, Hon. Nkom

The Chairman of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, Hon. Aniefiok Nkom, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to collaborate with local government stakeholders to actualise his restoration blueprint.

The Council helmsman said Ikot Ekpene, as an experimental local government in West Africa in 1951, must be strategically positioned for its overall development.

Reaffirming his commitment to actualizing the administration’s blueprint of the Restoration Agenda, Hon. Nkom called for contributory, innovative ideas and cooperation towards developing the council.

Hon. Nkom stated this in his office when he received, in courtesy, a delegation of immediate past councillors of the 7th Legislative Council on Thursday, February 27, 2025.

Hon. Nkom sued for drastic ways of restoring the image of the local government as well as positioning it to attract investors for business to thrive.

The local government boss said his office is open for positive contributions, adding that he is set to interpret the frontier that was set out by pioneer leaders of the council.

He welcomed and commended them for their foresight during their tenure and promised to carry them along in his administration.

Speaking earlier, the Deputy Leader of the 7th Assembly of the Ikot Ekpene Legislative Council, Hon. Abraham Udo, lauded the Chairman for the numerous legacy projects within the council secretariat and in the local government.

Hon. Udo, who acknowledged what he described as outstanding works enjoyed by citizens, listed such things as the grading of rural roads, repairing of existing tarred roads that ensure zero potholes, and enhancing the free flow of traffic in the local government area.

He also commended the Chairman for the synergy experienced between the legislative arm and the executive in the current Assembly, such as the renovation of the legislative chambers, welfare settlements and solicitations for incorporation into the administration.

In their respective speeches, Hon. Owoikana Ekanem and Hon. Emilia Udom appreciated the Council Chairman for the transformation work experienced in the entire local government in various sectors, which, according to them, ranges from infrastructure development to education, among others.

They also appealed to the council chairman to maintain the tempo by ensuring that he fulfilled other campaign promises, as they pledged their support to the council administration.
