Industrialist Donates Palliatives To Widows in A’Ibom Rural Communities

Widows from the rural communities of Obot Akara Ward 1 have smiled home with food items that will mitigate against hunger during the Covid-19 “Stay at home” directive by the State Government.

 

 

The widows drawn from the five villages of Nsit Ikpe, Ikpe Mbak Eyop, Ikpe Usung Ita, Nto Abasi Uko, Uruk Uso in Obot Akara Ward 1, today Friday, benefited from food items including bags of rice, beans and carton of noodles courtesy of the donation by an industrialist, Prince Mendy Archibong.

 

Food items donated

The donor, Prince Mendy Archibong, Managing Director of Good Time Paint and Allied Products Industrial Limited said, the food items were a token to support State government palliatives to the vulnerable in Obot Akara Local government area.

 

 

Prince Archibong, an indigene of Ikpe Mbak Eyop in Obot Akara who was represented by Abasifreke Effiong noted that he understands that owing to the lockdown directive, the villagers’ source of livelihood will be affected hence his donation to support the provision from government in his Ward.

Beneficiaries

 

He charged the people to adhere to government directive on staying at home among other hygiene precautions so that they can survive past the pandemic and live to cater for their children.

 

 

Responding, the Woman Leader of Obot Akara Ward 1, Obonganwan Paulina Udom thanked Prince Archibong for always having the people of his community at heart.

She noted that with the choice of widows as beneficiaries of the palliative, the donor can be sure that the entire family will benefit from the food items.

She added ” Under this pandemic, it has not been easy in many homes. That is why God has touched our son’s heart who himself is an orphan to help us with what would sustain us. This is an uncommon show of love and we pray that God will bless him and his family”.

 

 

Also Speaking, a woman leader in the area, Akon Usen expressed appreciation over the food items. She said the women were delighted over the fact that their son who does not reside with them still have them at heart as exemplified in his show of concern over their welfare during what she described as trying times.

Earlier, the Immediate Past Councillor of the Ward, Hon Eferemfon Umoh said the entire area including men and the youth are delighted over the donation.

 

 

He noted that what delight the people more is the fact that Prince Archibong makes it a tradition to always return home to give back to the people.

 

 

Hon Umoh assured the donor that the people of the area will continue to put him in their prayers for more blessings.

 

Beneficiaries

It could be recalled that few weeks ago, Prince Archibong had taken sensitization against Covid-19 to rural schools in Ikot Ekpene and Obot Akara Local Government Area where he distributed hand sanitizers, disinfectants, disposable nose mask and gloves to students and teachers.
