Kidnappers Free 80-year Old Bayelsa Council Chairman’s  Father

Pa Napoleon Alele, 80-year-old father of the chairman of Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, Hon. Embeleakpo Alele has been freed after spending over three months in a kidnappers’ den.

Pa Alele was abducted by unknown gunmen at his country home, Agbere community, on May 8, 2020. He was released in the early hours of Tuesday.

A police spokesman in Bayelsa State, SP Asinim Butswat, who confirmed the incident, said the mastermind of the kidnap was arrested.

He said: “Following the kidnap of Pa. Napoleon Alele, 80 years, on May 8, 2020, at Agbere community, Sagbama Local Government Area, combined efforts by security agencies led to the arrest of one Commander Mummy Reuben, who was the mastermind of the kidnap. The suspect has confessed to how he conspired with others to carry out the kidnap.

“Consequently, the kidnappers released the victim Pa Napoleon Alele, 80 years, on Tuesday, August 4, at about 01:00hours at Otuokpoti, Ogbia Local Government Area, Bayelsa State.

“The Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State Command, CP Mike Okoli fsi, has rejigged the security strategy of the command to reduce crime to the barest minimum in Bayelsa State.

“Investigation is underway to arrest other fleeing suspects,” he said.
