.. As VAIA Begins Night Operations

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has reaffirmed his commitment to promoting unity, peace, and progress in the state, stressing that divisive tendencies and treachery have no place in the state’s development agenda.

Addressing a mammoth crowd of supporters that received him at the Victor Attah International Airport on Thursday, September 2, 2025, Governor Eno charged the supporters to ensure that they register with the All Progressives Congress, APC, and also take part in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise to enable them to vote for more progress and development.

“We are Akwa Ibom united – united for progress and development. And the symbolic broom of the party is going to sweep away disunity, poverty, division, and treachery.”

Pastor Eno reaffirmed his support and that of the State for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as well as the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, in their respective offices come 2027.

“You must be proud to be connected to the centre to continue to receive the support of the centre for the overall benefit of our people and our state,” he said.

Governor Eno disclosed that he decided to embark on a night flight to the state’s airport to inspect and ensure the functionality of the recently restored runway lighting at the airport.

“I chose to return in the night to inspect our runway – to do a project inspection – and I am satisfied with the lighting work done so far here,” he said.

He commended the management of the airport for a job well done and for working hard to meet the deadline given to them.

“Our airport is back, so any flight can land here at night. Ibom Air can now bring in people, and they can night-stop in Uyo for their first flight in the morning to Lagos and Abuja because this is the home of Ibom Air,” the Governor said.

The State Chief Executive also thanked the State House of Assembly for its speedy passage of the State’s Supplementary Budget, announcing that the Government would extend its road projects from its current 772 km to 1000 km in the approaching dry season.

He said, “We will continue to work to deliver the dividends of democracy to our people; we will continue to work together with members of the various tiers and arms of government to consolidate on the progress and development of the state.

Governor Eno appreciated the large turnout of supporters at the airport, describing their action as a boost for him to do more work and transform the state.

“Your massive turnout at this reception this evening, though a surprise to me, is like putting fuel in a car, and it will certainly go far in its journey. I therefore promise you, we will continue to work for Akwa Ibom and deliver on the dividends of democracy.
