May Day: Nsit Atai Chairman Commends Workers for Resilience, Dedication to Service Delivery

The Executive Chairman of Nsit Atai Local Government Area, Hon. Prince Anthony Nyong, has commended the dedication and resilience of workers to service delivery in the council.

The chairman stated this as he joined the Nsit Atai workforce under the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) at the Uyo Township Stadium to commemorate the 2026 International Workers’ Day on Friday.

Prince Nyong reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promoting workers’ welfare and creating an enabling environment for productivity and growth.

The May Day celebration brought together workers and stakeholders across 31 local government areas, members of the civil society groups and others across the state.

The historic event was graced by the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, who was ably represented by the Deputy Governor, Her Excellency, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, PhD, with other top dignitaries of government in attendance.

The Nsit Atai workforce, under the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), participated in the march-past.

The theme of the 2026 Workers Day celebration jointly organised by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) was “Insecurity, Poverty – Bane of Decent Work”.
