Mushin LG Chairman Disburses ₦100,000 Each to 500 Residents

The Chairman of Mushin Local Government Area, Hon. Tunbosun Haruna Aruwe, has empowered 500 residents with ₦100,000 each, under the Mushin Renewed Hope Support Fund.

The ₦50 million empowerment programme was held at the Mushin Local Government Secretariat on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.

Speaking during an interview with journalists at the event, Hon. Aruwe said the empowerment programme was designed to provide financial support to residents, particularly small-scale business owners, to help them grow and sustain their businesses.

He noted that the initiative aligns with the local government’s commitment to grassroots development and economic inclusion.

Aruwe stressed that inclusiveness was a key consideration in the selection of beneficiaries, stressing that all segments of society were represented, including people with disabilities.

The council boss urged the beneficiaries to fully leverage this empowerment initiative to boost profits in their businesses.

“I advise the beneficiaries to use this money judiciously. When we receive positive feedback on how the funds are utilized, it will motivate us to do more, ” he said.

Also speaking, the All Progressive Congress spokesman in Lagos State and former Chairman of Mushin Local Government Area, Hon. Mogaji Seye Oladejo, who was represented by Mr Adedeji Adekunle Philips, described the programme as historic and inclusive.

He said the initiative cut across ethnic and political lines and reached those who genuinely needed support.

“This is an epic ceremony in the history of this Local Government Area. It takes us back to a time when everybody was carried along, and people were assisted in one way or another, regardless of whether they were Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, or members of any political party.

“This empowerment programme was wide and inclusive, covering every group of people, including retired civil servants.

“About 98 per cent, if not 100 per cent, of the beneficiaries truly needed this support. Most of them are petty traders, and this money will go a long way in improving their businesses. ”

The APC spokesman also urged other elected officials to emulate the Chairman’s approach to grassroots empowerment.

“Other elected officials should emulate the Chairman in this regard, as he has set a commendable standard.”

One of the beneficiaries, Ogundeyi Babatunde Emmanuel, expressed appreciation to the Chairman and the local government for the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful.

He said the funds would be invested in his micro business and pledged, on behalf of other beneficiaries, to use the money responsibly to improve their businesses and contribute to the development of Mushin Local Government and Lagos State.

The occasion was graced by lawmakers, traditional rulers, religious leaders, councillors, women and youth leaders, as well as indigenes of Mushin.
