President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has constituted a high-powered federal government delegation to the maiden Nigeria Diaspora Investment Economic Conference, NIDEC 2026, with Senator Ita Enang, Nigeria’s ambassador to Germany, named among the key officials expected to drive Nigeria’s investment engagements in Canada.
The conference, with the theme “INVEST NIGERIA, THRIVE ABROAD”, will be held from August 12th to 15th, 2026, in Toronto, Canada.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the head of media, public relations and protocols of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, the delegation will be led by the President’s Chief of Staff, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.
NIDCOM Chairman/CEO, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, said the composition of the delegation underscores the administration’s commitment to strengthening trade, investment and economic cooperation between Nigeria and Canada, while also deepening ties with the Nigerian diaspora community.
Senator Enang, who represents Nigeria in Berlin, is expected to play a strategic role at the conference, leveraging his diplomatic experience and network to mobilise investment from Nigerians in Europe and North America.

Analysts note that his inclusion reflects the government’s plan to use career diplomats and former lawmakers with strong grassroots and international contacts to market Nigeria’s investment opportunities abroad.
Other top government officials on the delegation include Minister of Foreign Affairs Amb. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Minister of Trade & Investment Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, and Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
Five state governors are also on the list: Prof. Charles Soludo of Anambra, Prof. Babagana Zulum of Borno, Sen. Uba Sani of Kaduna, Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau, and Dauda Lawal of Zamfara.
Also expected are representatives of the Nigeria Customs Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Revenue Service, Central Bank of Nigeria, as well as the heads of key economic agencies — Aisha Rimi of NIPC, Nonye Ayeni of NEPC, and Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi of NITDA.
The Canadian government will also field a strong delegation led by Hon. Shafqat Ali, President of the Treasury Board of Canada. Other Canadian officials include Ontario ministers Hon. Graham McGregor and Hon. Williams; Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown; and Hon. Deepak Anand, Member of the Ontario Provincial Parliament for Mississauga-Malton.
NIDEC 2026 is being organised by NIDCOM in partnership with the Nigerian High Commission in Ottawa, the Canadian High Commission in Abuja, and other national and international stakeholders.
Dabiri-Erewa explained that the conference is designed as an “outcome-driven investment platform” to serve as a bridge between global investors and “investment-ready” opportunities in Nigeria.
She added that discussions will focus on high-impact sectors identified as critical engines for Nigeria’s future growth, including technology, manufacturing, agriculture, infrastructure, and financial services.
The four-day event is expected to attract policymakers, business leaders, and members of the Nigerian diaspora seeking to partner with the federal government on projects back home.
